Each substantial, 1½"-thick glass shade is carved from a weighty block of custom-cast crystal that takes up to 25 days to make; the temperature of the molten glass as it cools is precisely measured and monitored to prevent hairline fractures or cracking
The glass is then shaped by hand and lathe-turned at high speeds in a multi-day process; cutting speed and temperature are carefully monitored to maintain the integrity of the glass
The crystal form is finished with wet-stone grinding and polished by hand over several days
Frame and ceiling canopy are handcrafted from solid brass
